Enhanced imaging applications for new mobile experiences
— 2/27/2012 — Fremont, California —
ArcSoft, Inc., the industry leading software provider of imaging technologies and applications, today announced that its latest applications, Perfect365 and ArcSoft High Quality Night Shot, are now integrated with and optimized for the smart multicore OMAP™ 4 platform from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), enabling consumers to enjoy high-quality imaging and faster processing on smartphones and tablets.
Mobile World Congress 2012 attendees have the opportunity to witness first-hand the unique mobile applications capabilities driven by ArcSoft. The first demonstration leverages Perfect365's patented imaging and facial recognition technology—enabling users to apply various makeup templates and fine tune their look with accurate, natural results through one-touch cleanup tools. Perfect365 also allows for amazingly organic feature enhancements for the ultimate personal styling experience.
ArcSoft's second demonstration will showcase its High Quality Night Shot technology. Night Shot significantly improves the quality of photos captured under night or dark lighting conditions by efficiently brightening underexposed areas, reducing dark and ISO noise, and minimizing the hand shake blur due to slow shutter speed all at the same time.
Arcsoft Perfect365 and High Quality Night Shot Applications are fully optimized and tuned to run best on the features-rich, high-performing OMAP 4 Android imaging platform. The High Quality Night Shot is based on a multi-frame technology, which fully leverages the OMAP processor's ultra-fast burst capture mode, zero shutter lag and high speed exposure bracketing modes.
Both applications benefit from the OMAP processor's two ARM® Cortex-A9 CPUs for applications-specific post-processing effects, with complex imaging computing such as fast pixel and sharpness processing being performed on the processor’s Image Signal Processor and two low-power, Cortex-M3 CPUs.
"We are pleased to work with TI to bring the best multimedia experience to our mobile users," said Sean Mao, ArcSoft’s Vice President Marketing of Advanced Imaging Technologies"The advanced imaging capabilities of TI’s OMAP mobile processors and ArcSoft's applications combined ensure consumers will get the most from our products."
"Advanced imaging capabilities require sophisticated solutions to compensate for numerous environmental influences as well as unique object features. ArcSoft has developed solutions that do that and more, through the pairing of their innovation with TI's on the OMAP platform. The result is the opportunity to raise the bar in engaging imaging experiences," said Fred Cohen, director, OMAP platform ecosystem, TI.
Between February 27 –and March 1, these applications will be showcased at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Visit the Texas Instruments booth in Hall 8, Stand 8A84 to experience them in person. For more information on the MWC, visit http://www.mobileworldcongress.com/.
