Jason,
Do you think restoring my system will revive the webcam connection? (Meaning reversing my windows 7 upgrade, and going back to vista)

In theory, when properly implimented, system restore turns your system back to exactly how it was at the time the restore point was created. If the camera worked then it should start working again assuming the physical camera itself isn't the problem. It would seem too coincidental to have the camera break exactly when you upgraded your OS, so my guess is it would work again.

If you want to remain in W7, then getting Sony to clarify the driver situation is the the path to usage and it doesn't really require the ArcSoft software at all. You could go with freeware stuff instead if you choose once the camera itself is working. But there are a lot of variables in this path. What I've generally found with laptops, even as a pretty fearless tinkerer on PCs, is don't mess with the hardware or OS--it's too specialized.

That's baloney. I have a VAIO F11 & I can uninstall Webcam Companion 3 from: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features.

But I won't because it works fine.

If your webcam is not working also with Skype or other programs, it's a proof that Webcam Companion is not the culprit.

Go to: Device Manager > Imaging devices & find driver updates for your webcam or uninstall & reboot & also check with Sony's esupport for your specific model to see if there is an update.

I also have a Vaio F119 and the webcam is fine and the Arcsoft uninstalls are there. My challenge with Web Companion 3 is that I cannot get the video monitoring to work with either FTP or Email.
Jason - do you know of any issues. (Win7 - Home)?

In addition I cannot register the software with arcsoft as the arcsoft connect button is not there :(

Dude, the email stuff is really tough. You generally cannot get the information required to make use of it from your ISP in a home user situation. And it's not exactly an enterprise app where you'd be using it in an office setting where IT can set it up.

The FTP stuff worked in my experience. I set it up a couple times years ago when it first was released. But I haven't looked at it since.

Sorry, I don't have much info. My time is dedicated to another product now.

For registration, go into the email support section and select the registration issue option. Fill in as much info as you can. They'll help register so you can contact tech support with your more detailed question.
