    Posted: 03 Nov 2010 at 2:23pm
Hi,

I have written a short program that extracts MediaImpression from the Zx3 Playsport firmware image. It is a 6kb program (UPX compressed) that I quickly wrote in the last hour and now make available to anybody for free.

Conditions of use: You own a Kodak HD camera and you have misplaced your installation CD. Or you own an older model such as a Kodak Zi6 and would like to access the latest Kodak MediaImpression software suite (V2). For example because of Win7 compatibility issues with the software the Zi6 came with.

How to use:

Place kodakimg.exe in same folder as the Zx3_761.img firmware image which is an official download from Kodak support site as self extracting exe file. Double click on kodakimg.exe and it should extract MediaImpression for you. Of course this works only on a PC.

firmware download is here:
http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadFile.jhtml?locsvcsEntryPath=2300306&product=EKN036801&operatingSystem=windows_7&lang=en&type=software&downloadId=dln00245_file1&variant=false&pq-path=14091

Please do not use my extraction software if you do not own a Kodak HD camera, thank you. In this case consider buying ArcSoft Media Impression through the retail channel or from the ArcSoft web site.

Here is my program.

I've spent a lot of time trying - bought a brand new PlaySport Cam but the program installation just did not start.

Thank you very much!

Hello Dynamikum,

Since MediaImpression came bundled with your Camera, you will need to contact Kodak or refer to their website for a new program. Unfortunately, ArcSoft cannot help you directly in this case because the software should have come embedded in  your camera. This is how matters arranged with Kodak. As a side note, in this instance I would not recommend downloading a trial version of MediaImpressions from ArcSoft's websites. Customers have a tendency to do this, only to feel frustrated that they have to pay for the program after the trial period is over.  So please contact Kodak as they should be able to help you.

Thought I was speaking directly  to dynamikum, as stated I have tried lots of things to get ArcSoft installed. Updated firmware from Kodak site OK, tried to reinstall ArcSoft as posted on Kodak support, that didn't work. Driving me mad as at the moment Playsport camera is restricted by this problem. Anymore I can try before returning to store.

cbuchner1, I just bought the Kodak Playsport and it WOULD NOT install the Arcsoft software. I used your program and BAM...it worked. I thank you graciously!!
