I have been trying to get iMon to control TMT3, with no success so far.

iMon has a weird issue that the "multimedia keys" (Play, Stop...) that work on MCE don't seem to work with TMT (2 or 3). TMT works fine with actual keyboard multimedia keys, but not when sent by iMon.

The work around for TMT2is to do the following combination:
- Add the MCE TMT program in the list of programs and add TMT-specific keyboard shortcuts (like space, enter, F...)  and not multimedia keys to control TMT.
- Uncheck the "Exclusive" mode so that when TMT2 and MCE are layered in a werd way, iMon still recognizes that TMT2 is playing and the shortcuts are sent.

However, TMT3 seems to be "too well" integrated so that it plays inside a MCE window. Now the issue is that, while the MCE TMT player is running (in the task list), it doesn't appear as a separate window (ah, the beauty of integration), and iMon doesn't see it.

Strangely, when I tried the trial version of TMT3, it seemed to still be in the TMT2-like layered mode and the remote worked fine. Even with the retail version of TMT3, I have had a few cases where it's in layered mode (it only happened in non-full screen mode) and the remote works fine. Bizarre.

It looks like there are only 3 options:
- Make TMT work with the iMon-generated "multimedia keys". That should make TMT "just work" in a transparent way. I assume that's how it works with "normal" MCE remotes and that would be the best solution.
- Have an option to prevent TMT3 integration into the MCE window, so that iMon sees it (that's the imperfect TMT2 option - it mostly works).
- Ditch the !@#$%^&* iMon IR solution and use a proper MCE solution (note: I use iMon in MCE-remote mode). Is there a generic MCE remote driver that would understand the iMon hardware?

(Note: my iMon hardware is from the Antec Fusion).

That exactly the same problem i'm having with my Imon and harmony remote set as an MCE remote. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution.

I have Thermaltale DH-101 case with iMon. I configured it as iMon PAD. For the TMT2 I use XP Media Center profile and "Exclusive" mode. This configuration works correctly for TMT2 and 3. I can use Play, Pause, Stop, FF, RW, Chapter +, -, Increase, Decrease Volume, Menu. What other keys are missing?

@gvers: ye, I saw your posts but decided to post this own anyway with a more explicit title and explanations.

@Media_markm: The keys you list (Play, Pause...) have never worked for me on TMT. They do on VMC itself. The hack is to use TMT's keyboard shortcuts (Space, Enter...) to control these functions.
I'll try going to RM200 mode (i.e. the iMon remote) to see if that changes anything (I am in MCE Remote mode because I can't seem to be able to learn the RM200 on my Pronto).
Are you running XP or Vista?

Well, I found a couple of solutions Smile

The trouble are the "multimedia" keys that TMT doesn't seem to understand (or that iMon doesn't send properly). So they need to be replaced.

Solution 1: Yet another set of multimedia keys.
I had been looking at the following page for a while, getting ready to do major surgery on the drivers:
http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remote_faq.htm
As it happens, all the way down, there is a table of alternate key sequences for all the "multimedia keys" (e.g. Play is Ctrl+Shift+P). And guess what? They work with both VMC and TMT3! So I just reprogrammed the "XP Media Center" program keys in iMon and replaced all the multimedia keys with those key sequences, and life is now good! I don't have to have an entry for TMT in iMon and I am even in exclusive mode and it works!

Solution 2: Yest another way of generating multimedia keys.
Multimedia keyboard have some multimedia keys (Play/Pause, Stop, next, previous) and I looked for a program capable of generating those. I bumped into AutoHotKeys, which seems pretty popular. It has codes for the keyboard multimedia keys. So I got iMon to generate random key sequences instead of the "multimedia keys" (like Ctrl+Alt+A) and used AutoHotKey to remap those into the keyboard multimedia keys. It worked, but I didn't go all the way as I stumbled on solution 1 first. I am mentioning solution 2 here because programs like AutoHotKeys are very useful in conjunction with iMon to fix shortcomings iMon has.

Enjoy!

I'm running Vista. Soudgraph (iMon) software has profiles for a number of application. VMC uses XPMedia Center Profiles becuse multimedia keys are the same for XP and Vista media centers. In case of TMT2 I had to configure in iMon additional application which uses XP Media Center profile. TMT2 when started from VMC uses the same key codes as VMC. It worked also for TMT3 so I didn't investigate it in details.

That's how I had it set up and it worked with TMT 2. I'll redo everything from the begining and try again. If not I'll use the alternate keys and give that a try. I 've not had much of a chance to play with the setup as I decided to watch a couple of films instead.

I have checked and redone the setup and the multimedia keys work in the stand alone TMT 3 but do not work in the MCE integrated one. Media_markm are you sending the media keys or keyboard shortcuts?

gvers,

I'm sending media keys. Under Program Control I added new Program uMCEDVDPlayer.exe and imported preset XPMediaCenter.imo. This is all.

I have found the key thing with imon is to make sure that you set the quick launch button to be anythign other than VMC.

For some reason if you set the quick launch to be VMC it sends all the mutlimedia commands only to vmc.

Obviously when you have done this add umcedvd.exe and normal tmt as apps and import the XP media center commands and it will work perfectly for you.

I tested it two days ago with clean Vista install. I found out that for TMT3 it is not necessary to configure any new profiles for iMon. It is due to stronger TMT3 integration with VMC. iMON software cannot distinguished TMT3 from VMC. Umcedvd.exe is not seen as an application by the system. It is seen as a process.
When I had both TMT2 and TMT3 installed iMon does not work with TMT3.
