Topic: Magic-i Virtual Driver Posted: 02 Aug 2009 at 3:08pm |

Hello,
Where can I find the latest version of the Magic-i Virtual Driver for Windows XP? Mine is 1.0.0.8 of 12/7/2006
I'm asking because I'm having troubles with microphone settings on my webcam (HP GX697AA) - the microphone volume level is very-very low, and I tried everything to fix that unsuccessfully.
Thanks Aleksey

The driver is not available seperately from the app. (The name is somewhat misleading. Think of it as just part of the app.)

Jason, thank you
"The app" you were talking about - is it "Magic-i 3"? Can I upgrade it?
Thanks Aleksey

Right. M-i 3 is about 2 years old and has been replaced by Magic-i Visual Effects (1 and now 2 actually) which makes me think you probably have the latest (ie last) M-i 3 already as far as free updates go. You might see if we have a free trial release of MIVE2 on our site to see if that resolves your issue. You should have an upgrade pricing option in your account available if you registered M-i 3.

Arcsoft_Jason. This is an issue with a supplied HP CD that comes with slected Web Cams. We should not have to purchase an upgrade or new software to resolve this issue we have purchased this product it was not free.
Please see my post earlier under another upset user Air Boss

Good luck. This problem was never resolved by Arcsoft or HP.

Fair enough. We do not sell M-i3 at retail anymore. All work is done on a contract basis with HP who I believe might be the last remaining customer for it. If HP can recreate this microphone problem and requests a fix, we'll look into it. Our original testing, and HP's testing have uncovered no issues with the microphones and in two years this is the first complaint I've seen about it (though admittedly I don't follow this particular product all that closely.)
So, short answer, if you're experiencing an issue with it, make sure HP is aware of it and they will pass that up the chain to us if they feel it's warranted.

This is B.S. I have read on dozens of BBS that the ISSUE (Magic-i Virtual Driver cannot be found) is HAPPENING all the time with ARC Soft Magic-i Virtual Driver.
I am so mad I bought the MOST EXPENSIVE webcam and come home all excited and Boom it sucks, Well I am returning it, and that will be that. Good Bye ARC Soft.

It does happen. There's no dispute about that. But it does not happen to very many users overall, and HP and ArcSoft cannot recreate it in environment's very similar to those that the problem is being reported on. For your 'dozens' of machines that can recreate the issue, we can look to thousands that can't. It's unfortunate that anyone has unresolvable conflicts, but that's where you are for the moment. If we or HP can figure out what the problem is at some point, we'll look into fixing it but no luck so far.

I am not sure if this helps however I was having the same issue that everyone else was in regards to the virtual driver not found. I copied the Magic-I folder from my setup CD to my hard drive. I then set the compatibility of the setup program to Vista SP2 as I am running Windows 7. I then ran the install program and it finally installed without a hitch.
