QuoteReplyTopic: Internet Video Downloader Error Posted: 27 Oct 2009 at 6:37am
Hi: I've searched this forum and I think I have a unique issue. I got a copy of "Media Converter for Philips" with my new GoGear mp3/smv player. After installation I can see the "Internet Video Downloader" appear in the upper left corner of YouTube videos in IE6 and IE8. However, the download fails with "Error: Download Failed" after about a twenty second period of a "Waiting..." message. The software as supplied by Philips has no serial number so I cannot even register it on this site. The media converter itself seems to work well- I can convert TiVo for my SMV player! I have used the CD and also pulled a zip package from Philips with the Media Converter software. Both approaches give me the same error. Is there any way I can get "official" support on this product? I have my player S/N but I would guess ArcSoft has little use for this. Thanks
An Update... Because the original software has no serial number I cannot register it with Arcsoft to get support. Even the upgrade to Media Converter 2.5, a special coupon offer through Philips, has o serial number. I got the upgrade because the Philips M.C. claimed YouTube videos could not be converted unless I purchased the upgrade which has the FLV codec. That appears to have made no difference EITHER> I am about a day away from returning this thing.
I have the same problem . Up until yesterday the Internet Video Downloader worked just fine. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the MC from the CD I got with my GoGear but I keep getting that error: download failed. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Its seems alot of people who has purchased this product is having the same issue. I dont know if this all happened in October because youtube decide to use another codec for their videos. But it seems suspicious for ArcSoft & Phillips to develop an inferior product that only last a couple of months... then ask people to purchase their Media Converter 3. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What a load of !!!
If they dont do something soon, you ARcsoft and Philips Media Converter will be reported on several different media outlets from forums to blogs and such.
I am having the same problem as above for the past month and cannot download from youtube or google with media converter 3. Is there a patch that will fix this issue.
As of today, 11/09/09, the problem is fixed. Just reinstall the Video Downloader and it will tell you that an "update" is available. Works again. Thank you ArcSoft! Job well done!!!
