Guidelines for enabling SimHD

SimHD is available for computers with AMD graphics only.

Video resolution must be below 720x576 (video resolution above 720x576 is considered HD).

SimHD technology supports playing:

MPEG PS/TS (.mpeg, .mpg, .ts, .m2ts, .mts, .vob)
MP4/3GP(.mp4, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2)
MOV (.mov)
MKV (.mkv)
flv (.flv)
divx (.divx)

Scenario 1Playing local videos with SimHD

To use SimHD, make sure you're using an AMD Fusion™ PC and your devices in your home network are DLNA-compatible.

  • Launch ArcSoft Link+ 3 and click the Settings icon to display the Settings dialog box. Click the Add button and browse to the video folders you'd like to share. Click OK.
  • From the left panel on the main screen, click This PC to display the videos on the PC. Play the selected video by clicking the Play icon.
  • Turn SimHD On by clicking the SimHD button , located at the top right-side of the video. This button toggles on/off. You can click the white arrow to reveal three viewing options: full screen, split screen, and side-by-side screen.

Scenario 2Playing remote videos with SimHD from other devices

Link+ can play videos from devices in your home network such as a laptop, Android phone, tablet, or network-attached storage (NAS) device. To use SimHD, make sure you're using an AMD Fusion™ PC and your devices in your home network are DLNA-compatible.

  • From your PC, launch ArcSoft Link+ 3.
  • From the left panel on the main screen, select the device (laptop, Android phone, tablet, or NAS) in your home network that contains the shared video you'd like to play. To play the selected video, click the Play to icon and choose the name of the device from the popup menu.
  • Turn SimHD On by clicking the SimHD button , located at the top right-side of the video. This button toggles on/off. You can click the white arrow to reveal three viewing options: full screen, split screen, and side-by-side screen.

Scenario 3Playing remote videos with SimHD from a PC to your DLNA-compatible TV

Link+ can play shared videos from a PC in your home network onto your TV. To use SimHD, make sure your using an AMD Fusion™ PC and your TV is DLNA-compatible.

To determine if your TV is DLNA-compatible, a DLNA logo should be displayed on the TV. For more information about DLNA-compatible devices, see www.dlna.org.

  • From your PC, launch ArcSoft Link+ 3.
  • Check the As a transcoding server and Enable ArcSoft SimHD during transcoding checkboxes. Click OK.

  • Connect your DLNA-compatible TV to your home network. In most cases, the setting to connect your TV is in your TV's Settings or Setup menu. Since each TV is different, please refer to the user manual.
  • From the main Link+ screen on your PC, click This PC in the left panel to display the shared videos on the PC. To play the selected video, click the Play to icon and choose the name of the TV from the popup menu. SimHD is automatically enabled.

Scenario 4Playing remote videos with SimHD from an Android tablet to your DLNA-compatible TV

Link+ can play videos from your Android tablet onto your TV. To use SimHD, make sure your using an AMD Fusion™ PC, Link+ is installed on your Android tablet, and your TV is DLNA-compatible.

To determine if your TV is DLNA-compatible, a DLNA logo should be displayed on the TV. For more information about DLNA-compatible devices, see www.dlna.org.

  • Copy the video you'd like to play to your Android tablet (either by emailing the video file, using Dropbox, or using an SD card).
  • From your Android tablet, launch ArcSoft Link+ and tap the Settings icon to display the Settings dialog box. From the General Settings tab, make sure the name of your tablet is displayed under My device name(in this example, it's called SCH-I905 tablet).

  • Tap the Media server settings tab, and tap the Enable media server checkbox. Return to the main screen by tapping the Backarrow located on the bottom left-side.

  • From the main Link+ screen on your PC, click the tablet in the left panel that contains the shared video you'd like to play. The videos on the tablet are displayed. To play the selected video, click the Play to icon and choose the name of the TV from the popup menu. SimHD is automatically enabled.
